Two contrasting works for solo female voice. Dvorak’s cycle idealizes the bond between humans and nature, and Adelaide’s Joshua van Konkelenberg re-tells Ovid’s Metamorphoses legend from Daphne’s tragic perspective. Set in a forest, and torn between dream, myth, and reality, the work portrays the schism between what we want and how the world truly is.
